Yes, we know Barack Obama beat Hillary Clinton in Virginia last night. But did you know that Hillary Clinton beat John McCain?

Clinton had 345,211 votes last night to 242,804 for McCain, a difference of over 100,000 votes.

And while the pundits tell us that Virginia might be in play for the Democrats (due heavily in part to the fact that the DC suburbs in Virginia are turning purplish-blue) in 2008, the last Democratic presidential candidate to win Virginia: Lyndon Johnson in 1964 when he won 44 states.

And the breakdown of Democrats vs. Republicans in total votes: 964,701 for the Democrats and 479,644 for the Republicans, a more than 2:1 ratio.

So can Barack Obama beat John McCain. Yes. But so can Hillary Clinton.
